Common Questions About Film Developing
Problems with Film Developing

Overview
Getting your film developed at Clark is easy and convenient. From our website you can print a postage-paid mailing label and order form that you can use to send in your film, or, if you already have a Clark account, request that mailers be sent to you.

Plus, when you select "Photos Online" on your order form, we will scan your negatives to create high quality, digital copies of your photos. We then place these into an album in your Clark account online and email you to let you know they're ready to view. You can then share them with family and friends and order reprints and other photo merchandise.

Types of film we develop:

NOTE: Only photos from 35mm and APS film can be posted online. Online posting is not available for black and white, slide or 110 film.

  • All brands of C-41 process, 35mm color print film and APS/Advantix film, including Seattle Filmworks (Photoworks) brand film.
  • All brands of single-use cameras that use C-41 process, 35mm film or APS/Advantix film, including Seattle Filmworks (Photoworks) brand cameras. Please send in the whole camera - DO NOT attempt to pull the film out of the camera.
  • 110 film, black and white, and slide film.
  • Panoramic film: Some cameras take both panoramic and regular photos on the same roll. While we can develop this type of film, any panoramic size photos will come out as regular size 3.5x5", 4x6" or 5x7" prints (depending on the size prints you chose when you sent in your film) with black borders at the top and bottom. You can then later order reprints from your panoramic negatives from Clark, or you can then take them to a local processor for reprinting.

How to Send in Film
Sending your film to Clark is easy, and FREE! We pay the postage on all the rolls or single-use cameras that you send to us. To send in your film, use a Clark postage-paid film mailer or print a postage-paid mailing label and order form from our website. Follow the instructions on the printed page and attach the postage-paid label to your own packaging. Then fill out the order form and enclose it with your film. We recommend using a padded envelope (6x9 inches or larger) or a sturdy box to send in your film.

Be sure to select the 'Photos online' option on your order form to get your photos posted to your Clark online account. When you use the printable label and order form, you can send in 1 roll or many rolls - it's up to you. If you're using a Clark film mailer, you can enclose up to 3 rolls of film. Remember - there's no need to affix postage because it's on us!

The Development Process
When we receive your film we enter your order into our system and begin to process your photos. The steps for this are as follows:
  1. We develop your film
  2. We print your photos
  3. We scan your negatives to create digital versions of your photos and put them in a new album in your Clark online account. (Note: this step only occurs if you select "Photos online" on your film developing order form and include your email address.)
  4. We package your prints and negatives along with any other merchandise you ordered and ship it to your address.
What you receive from Clark
You'll get your prints, negatives, and any additional products you ordered. If you sent in several rolls of film for development, your order may arrive in multiple packages.

In addition to the prints, Photo CD, or film that you ordered, we'll include additional film mailers and a sheet of ID labels for future orders.

How long does film developing take?

  • After you mail your film, it typically takes up to 5 business days for it to reach our processing facility.
  • We then develop your film, ship your prints & negatives, and if you selected the online option, we will post your images to your online account - all within 1-2 business days.
  • Please allow up to 5 business days to receive your prints and negatives and any photo merchandise via the U.S. mail.
Checking the status of your film
If you selected "Photos online" on your film developing order form, we will email you as soon as your photos are available for viewing online at www.clarkcolor.com. If you have additional questions about the status of your order, please use our Order Status form to contact customer service.

Price and Payment
Prices
Please visit our pricing page for a complete list of current prices.

If you already have a Clark film mailer and order form, please refer to the prices on your mailer. We will honor the pricing on all mailers, no matter how old they are. If you have an old mailer that requires postage, you'll need 1 first-class stamp for 1 roll, 3 stamps for 2 rolls, and 4 stamps for 3 rolls. But why pay postage when you can print a postage-paid label right from our website? Click here to print the label - we'll pay the postage!

Appropriate state and local sales tax will be applied to all orders.

Payment
We accept VISA, Mastercard and Discover credit cards for our services and products, as well as ATM/debit/check cards that display the Visa or Mastercard symbol. We also accept personal checks and money orders made payable to Clark Color Labs. We do not accept purchase orders for payment.

Common Questions About Film Developing
Can Clark film be processed at any Lab?
Clark film can be processed at any other film processing lab, but for the best quality prints, you should return it to us for development. Our printing equipment has been expertly calibrated to ensure the highest quality prints from our film.

Do I pull the film out of disposable/single-use cameras, or do I send you the whole camera?
Please do not pull the film out of the camera. Just enclose the entire camera into a Clark mailer, or into your own large envelope or box. We will remove the film and recycle the camera body at our facility. If you use your own packaging to send in your camera(s), be sure to print a postage-paid mailing label from our website so that we pay your postage.

How many rolls of film can I put in a Clark mailer? I only have one mailer and need to send in many rolls of film.
You can put up to 3 rolls of film or 1 single-use camera in each mailer. If you have many rolls of film or single-use cameras to send in, we suggest printing a postage-paid mailing label from our website and placing it on a large padded envelope or sturdy box. This will ensure that all of your film arrives safely at the same time, and we still pay the postage.

Can I order more than 2 sets (double) of prints from a roll? What is the pricing for 3 or more set of prints from my roll(s)?
You can order 3 or more sets of prints at the time of developing. You'll pay the doubles price for your first two sets, and then $1.50 for each additional set.

Do I need to add postage?
No - Clark mailers and labels that you print from our website are postage-paid.

Where do I send my film for the quickest processing?
You should send your film to the closest P.O. box to you. All of our P.O. boxes are listed on the printable label and order form.

Problems with Film Developing
Problem: Please do the following:
You don't have any film mailers or order forms.

I made a mistake on my order form and need a new one.

To send in your film to Clark, just print a postage-paid mailing label and order form from our website. Then use them with your own padded envelope or box to send in your film. We still pay the postage. Or, if you already have a Clark account, request that more mailers be sent to you.
I forgot to include payment with my film developing order. As soon as your order arrives at Clark without payment, we will send you a billing notice. Please wait until the billing notice arrives and then send your check or credit card information back to us on the billing stub that is provided.
You haven't received your prints in the mail.
Original Prints: Normally, your full set of prints and negatives will arrive via the U.S. Postal Service within 5-10 business days after developing is completed, but sometimes the U.S. Postal Service does experience delays.

If you selected "Photos online" on your order form, we will email you when your photos are available for viewing online. If you have additional questions about your order status, please use our Order Status form to contact customer service.

Reprints: We ship your order within 2-3 business days after you place it online. We ship orders via U.S. mail and they typically arrive within 5-7 business days. Please note that there are occasional postal service delays.

If you haven't received your reprints within 14 business days, please use our Order Status form to contact customer service.

You can't see your photos online yet. After we receive your film, your photos are normally posted to your Clark account within 1 business day. Once they're online, we'll send you an email. If you have additional questions, please use our Order Status form to contact customer service.
I ordered matte/glossy prints but you delivered matte/glossy prints. For example, if you requested matte finish for your 35mm prints but received glossy instead, we will be happy to reprint them for you at no additional charge. Please use our Returns/Refunds form to request that your photos be reprinted.

Please note that matte finish is NOT available for APS prints.

One or more photos are missing from my order. Our processing system is highly automated and sometimes if a negative appears light, the machine may skip over the negative. This is normally caught before it leaves our plant and reprinted. Please return your negative(s) that was not printed and we will be happy to print it free of charge. Use our Returns/Refunds form to contact customer service.
You didn't receive your film or CD-Rom with your prints. Merchandise may be shipped separately from your prints and negatives. Delays in the postal system are not uncommon, so we ask that you wait until at least 10 business days have passed since shipment. If you still haven't received your order, please use our Order Status form to contact customer service.
You got your film order but not your prints. We may send out film that you order separately from your prints and negatives. All products in a film developing order are shipped out the same day, however they may arrive at different times in the mail due to delays in the U.S. Postal Service. If you still haven't received your order after 14 days, please use our Order Status form to contact customer service.
Forgot to fill out the order form? If you forgot to fill out the order form with your developing choices, we'll automatically provide you with a set of 4x6 prints with a glossy finish. Please note that we can't change your film developing options after you send in your film. If you didn't include your name or return address on the mailer or on any of your rolls of film, please customerservice@clarkcolor.com immediately.
