How Clark is Organized
The Clark website is divided into 5 major areas:
  • home
  • photos
  • store
  • account
Each of these areas is accessible through the tabs at the top of most pages.

Whenever you visit the Clark website, you'll see the welcome and login page. Once you've logged in, you'll see the home page.

home

The home page gives you a glimpse of many parts of the Clark service at once:

  • most recently added albums
If you have any new albums, they will appear on your home page, under this heading. Otherwise, you'll see up to 3 of the albums you've viewed most recently.

Click on "go to pictures" to go to your photo library.
  • get started
In the upper right hand corner of the page, you'll see a yellow box with four options:

  • special offers
At the bottom and to the right of the page, you'll find new Clark features and selected offers from our partners.

When you click on the 'photos' tab, you'll see your photo library. All the albums in your account are shown in two sections, 'your albums' and 'friends' albums'.

  • At the top right, you'll see a yellow box called 'quick start.' These are links to help you order prints and upload photos as quickly as possible.
  • The bar on the right side of the page is the photo toolbar, which contains links to all of the things you can do with your photos: ordering prints, editing photos, making cards, etc.

Viewing Your Photos
After logging in to your Clark account with your email and password, you'll see the Clark homepage. Click on the 'photos' tab (at the top of the screen) to view your photo library, containing your albums and any albums your friends have shared with you.

Your own albums are listed first. New albums have yellow covers. Albums you've already viewed are blue. Friends' albums are green.

Tip: If you don't have any albums, you can or upload digital photos, or send in a roll of film.

To view an album of photos in order:

  1. Click anywhere on the cover or title of an album to open it. You'll see thumbnail (small) versions of every photo on a single page.
  2. Click on the first photo in the album to see a bigger version of it.
  3. Click on the 'next' link in the upper right hand corner to see the next photo. Repeat for all the photos in your album.
  4. After the first photo, there will be a link to the 'previous' photo in the upper left hand corner, in case you'd like to go back.

Tip: While you're viewing a photo, you can click on the yellow 'order prints' button on the right hand side to add prints to your cart without leaving the page.

picture quality
In order for the website to load quickly, we display low-resolution images in your account. These images are sometimes a little darker or fuzzier than the actual photo. This isn't an indicator of the true quality of your photo. When you order prints, we use the high-resolution scanned photo stored with your account to produce a high-quality print.

Viewing a Friend's Photos
After you receive an email message inviting you to view a friend's album, follow the instructions below. If you don't already have an account, you'll be able to sign up quickly before viewing the photos.
  1. Open the email message and click on the blue, underlined album title. If clicking on the album title doesn't work, copy the URL beginning with "http://" and paste it into the address field in your browser.

  2. You'll see a page with areas to sign up for an account, or log in to the account you already have.

  3. If you don't have an account yet, fill in the fields on the new to Clark section with your name, email address, and a password you choose. Click on the box next to "I accept the Terms and Conditions."

If you have an account, log in with your email address and password.

  4. Click on the 'view album(s)' button to see your friend's photos.
Tell them what you think! You can also view and add comments about your friend's photo in the album's guest book. When viewing the photos, click on the "guest book" link which is located to the right of the album name. If the guest book link does not appear, the album owner has de-activated the guest book so it is no longer accessible.

You can return to see your friend's album again whenever you'd like by going to www.clarkcolor.com and logging in on the right side of the page.
Tip: If you don't have the "sharing" email any longer, just ask your friend to share their album with you again. You'll receive another email message.

Common Questions About Viewing Your Photos
What should I do if I can't log in to my account?
If you forgot your password, click on the link next to the 'log in' button, and enter your email address. We'll send your password to you.

If you receive an error that your email address is incorrect, be sure that you are logging in with the exact email address that is on your pre-printed Clark film labels. At times, a customer service representative may be unable to decipher handwriting and enter an email address in the system incorrectly. If this happens, your photos are put online, but you will not be able to log in because the incorrect email address on file will not match your actual email address. Check your pre-printed labels to determine the exact email address that is on file with your account, then log in with that email address to view your photos. You can then correct your email address after logging in by clicking the 'your account' link in the upper right corner of most pages.

If you still have trouble logging in, please email customerservice@clarkcolor.com for assistance.

Why are my photos upside down?
Some 35mm cameras require that you load film in right side up while others require you to load film upside down. When we develop your film, your negatives are scanned and the digital images are then posted to your account. If your camera loads film upside down, then your images will appear upside down in your account. This is easy to correct, just follow these steps:

  1. While viewing your album, click on 'edit & organize' in the photo toolbar on the right side of the page, and then click on the 'rotate and flip' link.
  2. Click on the 'set all photos to flip' link in the upper left corner of the page.
  3. Click the yellow 'rotate photos' button, to flip the photos and return to viewing your album.
Note: If your photos are still upside down, refresh your browser to show the new orientation. (To do this, look for a button called Refresh or Reload on your browser toolbar above the Clark logo.) More info about rotating photos

How can I get the high-resolution digital copy of my photo?
You can download hi-res digital versions of your photos individually, or order a CD with up to 500 of your photos. When you are viewing your photo library, an album, or an individual photo, look at the gray toolbar on the right side of the page. You can click on 'Get hi-res photos' and then 'Photo CD' to buy a photo cd or 'Download photos' to get your hi-res digital photos in the format you prefer.

More info about hi-res photos.
More info about Photo CDs.

How long will Clark store my photos in my account?
We'll keep your pictures online as long as you're an active member of Clark. To maintain an active membership, just send in film or purchase prints (or other merchandise) at least once every twelve months.

Can I come back and look at my friend's photos later?
Yes, you can. Once you've signed in to see your friend's photos, the album is saved in your account. The next time you want to view this album, just return to our website and log in with your email address and password. You can return whenever you want. The album will remain in your account until you choose to remove it, or until the original owner of the album removes it from their account.

How long will the email link to my friend's album work?
You can use the link as long as you keep the message. Please note that if your friend removes the original album from their account, the link in your invitation email will no longer be valid.

Why can't I re-share my friend's album? The 'share this album' option is not available on the toolbar.
This indicates your friend didn't give you permission to re-share the album with others. More info about sharing.
